NBA 2K13 to be executive produced by Jay Z
Blue Ivy Carter will someday be proud.
Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter does more than just rap. He's an owner of his own fashion line, the chain of 40/40 sports clubs and a minority owner of the NBA's New Jersey Brooklyn Nets. And, apparently, he's now an executive producer for this Fall's NBA 2K13, according to a Take-Two press release.
As an executive producer, Carter isn't just responsible for NBA 2K13's soundtrack.
"Jay Z's role in NBA 2K13 represents a unique fusion of basketball, music, art, and entertainment, and illustrates the evolution of NBA 2K into something much bigger than simply the best basketball video game series ever made," said Jason Argent, 2K Sports' vice president of marketing, in the press release.
So exactly how Carter affect NBA 2K13? Take-Two says his "artistic vision will permeate the experience," from the game's 24-song soundtrack and in-game menus, to the game's overall look and feel.
"This has been a unique opportunity to collaborate with 2K Sports and be a part of one of the best sports video games in history," said Carter in the press release. "NBA 2K13 will be the next evolution in sports and basketball culture, and I'm ready to usher in the new era of the franchise."
The game's full soundtrack was also announced and can be viewed here, and select tracks can already be heard on NBA 2K13's Facebook fan page.
Visual Concepts' basketball simulator hits the hardwood in North America on Oct. 2, and international audiences can grab it three days later on Oct. 5.
