Tetsuya Nomura reveals some simple and clean KH1.5ReMIX details

Hopefully you'll find Sanctuary in these bits of info about the upcoming HD re-release.

In a recent interview with Japanese gaming mag Famitsu, KH creator Tetsuya Nomura revealed some new details about Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD ReMIX.

The screen for each game will be rearranged to accommodate for widescreen support, including rearrangements of the HUD.

The models for Sora and company have been replaced with the ones from Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance.

Trophy support for Kingdom Hearts Final Mix and Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories.

Game mechanics have been updated to make the gameplay feel more like Kingdom Hearts II.

70% of main story of 358/2 Days will be represented with over 100 new scenes created with full voice acting.

Nomura originally wanted to do a full remake of 358/2 Days but did not have enough time in production to start such a project, thus the decision to utilize Theatre Mode to tell the story.

That actually sounds like quit a bit of work. Most HD re-releases tend to be the exact same games we remember, just upscaled for higher definition TVs. It looks like Nomura and co. are putting some TLC into this.

Nomura also touches on the possibility of a Kingdom Hearts 2 HD release:

"It’d be unusual if there wasn’t."

Considering KH1.5HDReMIX features three full games in one package, I think it's safe to assume a KH2HD would include the PSP's Birth By Sleep to round things out.

Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD ReMIX has currently only been announced for release in Japan sometime in 2013. Nothing about a North American release has been announced.
