Clid the Snail lets players unlock music selections as they play with newly announced mode
The PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 exclusive takes aural unlocks to the next level.
Clid the Snail, a PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 exclusive headed to those platforms later this year as a digital release, will include a "Casette" mode so players don't have to wait to enjoy the game's music whenever they like.
In the new game, the Casette mode ensures they can listen to a new composition after initially encountering it in a new stage. By the time they finish the game, they will have unlocked every single selection. It's pretty big news for fans of music inspired by snails.
Weird Beluga, the game's developer, calls the game a "dark fable about the feeling of not fitting in, of being an outcast." Players control Clid, a humanoid snail who blasts through dreary landscapes while accompanied by a firefly sidekick named Belu.
"I wanted the music to sound sad and melancholic, but not depressing," said Alejandro Garcia, the composer responsible for the soundtrack. "It is the song that a snail would play in the middle of a town, in the middle of a thunderstorm. The rain is pouring and everybody is save at home, looking through the window, unaware [of] a menace that is looming upon them."
Here's a list of features from today's press release:
I know what you're probably thinking right now: "When can I play Clid the Snail?" Unfortunately, there's no definite release date info beyond "sometime in 2021." When it comes to snails and pandemics, sometimes things just happen more slowly than we all might wish.
