Jagged Alliance 2 review (PC)Reviewed on January 10, 2008The island nation of Arulco is, without a doubt, in the biggest mess it has ever been in. A mad and ruthless queen has seized control of the country and its mines, and money is her only concern. The population has been reduced to poverty, a well-funded, oversized army keeps them in check, and as the queen grows richer and richer, the once glorious country is in shambles. A rebel force exists, but lacks the weapons and the manpower to make a difference. But that's where you come in. Armed with a ... |

Claw review (PC)Reviewed on January 10, 2008Speaking of challenge, there is plenty of that in Claw, but there is also a very well balanced learning curve. The first levels aren't all that hard to complete, and even somebody who has never played a platform game before will get through them with only a little practice. The difficulty steadily increases, though, and by the time you are halfway the game, every new level seems impossible at first. |

Super Mario Galaxy review (WII)Reviewed on January 10, 2008If anything embodies the simple beauty of videogame entertainment, it is Nintendo’s Super Mario series. For many gamers, its creative level design and instinctive gameplay underline the entirety of their gaming experience as much as the iconic characters are ingrained into their psyche. Super Mario Galaxy follows tradition and is so beautifully and imaginatively constructed it beggars belief. But while Galaxy revels in its old school prowess combined with its innovations, there are times when th... |

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time review (GCN)Reviewed on January 08, 2008Prince of Persia is one of those games in which the plot is created around the necessities of gameplay. You've got yourself a linear action adventure game that involves a ton of environmental puzzles. In other words, the majority of this game is figuring out how to get from here to there. And that's kind of boring if there's no danger, right? But if you're trying to cross a giant chasm, what happens if you fall? There has to be some balance between the danger and giving the player a chance.... |

NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams review (WII)Reviewed on January 06, 2008Hey. You awake? Don’t be so sure. How do you know? You could be slumped in your chair, drenching your keyboard in drool. Maybe the morning sunlight is creeping through the nearest window. It’s not like that would wake you up, anyway. You’re too far-gone to see it. You’re wandering through that strange and mysterious place called your subconscious, where reality and thoughts blend to create the most surreal visions of your imagination. It can be beautiful, awe-inspiring, and frightening all at on... |

Birthright: The Gorgon's Alliance review (PC)Reviewed on January 05, 2008When D&D (and later AD&D) was invented, in the 70's, it was a game made for and by wargame enthusiasts. The 'father' of RPGs placed much importance on numbers and tables. This is probably one of the reasons that the first D&D forays into the PC were made a wargame company, Strategy Simulations Inc. (SSI). |

The Simpsons Game review (X360)Reviewed on January 04, 2008Prepare to laugh. The Simpsons are here and they’ve brought along parodies of games, and people in the industry. Everquest, Metal Gear Solid, Katamari Damacy, Pokemon, and so much more are all spoofed in The Simpsons Game, brought to you by EA Studios. So grab your controller, turn on your system, and get ready to rock! |

Star Voyager review (NES)Reviewed on January 04, 2008Shooters created during the 8-bit era had one thing in common – they were all primitive. Hell, even overhead shooters today can be considered primitive. Although they are generally challenging and might sometimes feature innovative and/or creative ideas, they all have a very simple concept – shoot everything that moves and don’t get shot while attempting to rack up the highest score possible. Some might contain power ups and other neat additions, but you can’t get a more basic premise then th... |

Batman review (NES)Reviewed on January 03, 2008There are many out there who might make the mistake of thinking Batman is just an ordinary video game. They’ll go and think things like, “it’s just an outdated platformer,” or “this just looks like some crappy licensed title from a technologically obsolete era,” or “he doesn’t have superpowers, so it’s fine if we shoot him in the mouth!” For a brief time, these thoughts crossed my mind as well. Yet after playing for just a short while, my usually normal blood pressure turned into audib... |

The King of Fighters XI review (PS2)Reviewed on January 03, 2008Power. That’s all it’s really about, isn’t it? Never mind the wealth. Forget the glory. The King of Fighters tournaments have and always will be a struggle for power. Some want it for good. Others want it for evil. Then there are guys like Ash Crimson. He’s out to steal the mystical flames of Kusanagi and Yagami Clans. Now that the tournament is starting up again, he’s got his sights set on Kyo and Iori, the wielders of the powers he’s after. It’s not like he’s an utterly depraved villain... |

Bible Black review (PC)Reviewed on January 02, 2008Bible Black is a vile, generally detestable anime series that's managed to develop a fan base over the years. What's lesser known is that the series is actually based on a similarly vile hentai game of the same title. The game manages to be a little better than you might expect, but not by much. |

NeoGeo Battle Coliseum review (PS2)Reviewed on January 02, 2008Meet Goodman. Nobody really cares about him. In a world where Geese Howard and Rugal Bernstein – you know, real fighting game bosses – dominate the playing field, this fellow comes up short. He looks like a cheap Igniz knockoff, wields a fiery whip, and controls a purple ball of flame shaped like a baboon’s head. Ooh, fearsome. His design practically screams, “I’m a throwaway villain! Beware my generic scheming!” If he weren’t poised to take control of the SNK universe, he’d hardly... |

Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 review (WII)Reviewed on December 31, 2007The party’s over, folks. Evil aliens are about to blow up the planet. There’s nothing we can do; the forces at work here are beyond the likes of you and I. How are you going to spend your last few moments of your existence? Are you going to call your loved ones? How about a pointless looting spree? If you’re going to die, you might as well go out with a smile, right? Or maybe you’re going to collapse where you stand, shedding buckets of tears and begging whichever God you worship for salvation. ... |

Dino Crisis review (PSX)Reviewed on December 30, 2007Like zombies? Try dinosaurs! Dino Crisis was and is the answer to the question of, "If I can survive zombies, could I survive rampaging dinosaurs?" Okay, maybe that is question not many people, or gamers for that matter, tend to ask themselves but it raises a good point. Are zombies as deadly as dinosaurs? When compared to the thrilling game series that is Resident Evil, they tend to about equal in terms of deadly clawing and biting. Your enemies not only try and devour you for food but, also, b... |

Mega Man ZX Advent review (DS)Reviewed on December 30, 2007With the Mega Man series quickly approaching a triple-digit number of games, it's no secret that the Blue Bomber has been in an absolutely ridiculous number of games. It's also no secret that many of the hero's recent entries have been noticeably lacking for one reason or another. Mega Man ZX Advent represents a return to grace for the series and is one of the most enjoyable action-adventure titles on the DS. |

Heroes of Might and Magic V review (PC)Reviewed on December 29, 2007Throughout the series' history, Heroes of Might and Magic has asked one simple question: Might or Magic? Players of the turn-based strategy RPG have always had to deal with this dilemma, and this game isn't any different. Heroes V improves upon the old, combining the best features from all previous installments, but it also adds unique features all its own. |

The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass review (DS)Reviewed on December 28, 2007When Nintendo tries something new with the Zelda series, it usually pays off. Moving to three dimensions in Ocarina of Time resulted in what many consider to be the best Zelda game of all time, and experimenting with an ultra-cute graphical style worked surprisingly well in The Wind Waker. Nintendo's at it again in the direct sequel to The Wind Waker, The Legend of Zelda: The Phantom Hourglass. What sets this apart from past games is that the entire g... |

Final Fantasy III review (SNES)Reviewed on December 25, 2007One of the most popular debates in gaming is determining the best Final Fantasy game. Many people claim VII or X to be the best, many people are also noobs and should be shot for saying such ignorant things. Now that the fanboy flames have been ignited, I present to you what I consider to be the best of the Final Fantasy games, Final Fantasy VI. |

LocoRoco review (PSP)Reviewed on December 24, 2007LocoRoco are a blissful blob race that look over the plants of their estranged fantastical planet. The Moja fiends are invading, and as the Locoroco you've got a mission to fend off the Moja to keep your world alive. You'll be finding and eating as much pink fruit as possible so you can get fat. Once you're fat, you can summon bolts of lightning to separate your body into mini Roco's, then collectively sing a song to wake up various anthropomorphic moons, suns, and rectangles. You'll have to... |
